Hi,
my site needs to have a gallery of around 20 images in each post, the problem i am having is that when i add the images to the s2member-files folder then add to a post (either inserting or using a gallery) some images do not load.

but when i add images from outside the s2member-files folder it works fine. It seems as though it just has a long loading time and it timesout.
I have 2 plugins working and have tried in a different theme. This is driving me mad, can anyone help??

here is an example http://www.additivo.co.uk/paper/

My first guess is that you have the page that the images on protected by s2member…

If that’s the case, then you are basically double protecting. In order to show your images, they would need to be in a non-protected folder or you could try adding this to their url:

<img src='[s2File download="example-file.png" download_key="true" skip_confirmation="yes" /]' />

Hope that helps,

Dave

EDIT: My understanding is that the “download_key” makes it so it is not protected when using that specific link, but the image should still be protected from outside viewers.

ok, well what i am trying to achieve is to have all of the images restricted so that you have to be a paid member to see/download them, what would you say is the best way to achieve this?

I believe the way I described above will do exactly what you want if you are loading them in a protected page/post.

My understanding is that the download_key part of the shortcode creates a single use key for displaying an image that is protected.

So is should show up in your protected page “as if” it were not protected, yet will still be protected from the outside by being in the secured folder.

So if you are going to post them on a protected page, which is a good idea, then I would make your links like the one above to make them show.

Sorry if that doesn’t make sense, I’ll try to re-word it, but I think that solution should work.

Did you try it?

ok, but how can i get this working with the “Full URL Paths” option in wordpress media settings? I basically want to upload the images and add as a gallery in the post, I want wordpress to automatically make the links etc as I have a lot of posts to put up.

btw thanks for all your help!

Hi, I am having this same issue. I had a site installed on a test server with S2Member (double-protecting) images on protected pages/posts. Everything was working fine until I moved the site to the client’s server and then images started randomly not loading.

I tried David’s suggestion to no avail – [s2File download="example-file.png" download_key="true" skip_confirmation="yes" /]

I did notice the images load fine in Safari.

(S2Member is the only plugin running & the issue occurs in default WP theme)

after a few hours of troubleshooting this I downgraded to version 111220 and everything is working again. (even the protected images on protected pages)
