so i added the localhost line into my config file. but certain peices are not lading.
it seems a css file is missing which makes the plugin look wacky!

and i cannot figure out how to make it work.
console says this:
GET http://localhost:8888/wordpress/community/?ws_plugin__s2member_menu_pages_css=548733475&ver=130221-649700250 500 (Internal Server Error)

i should mention wordpress is installed inside a directory called community, rather than the root dir.
