I assume that I made a fundamental error. I thought I had everything set properly but with S2 Member activated everyone when they try to visit the site gets the “Access Denied” screen as if they had tried to login.
I’ve had a look through the settings but I’m just not seeing where I went wrong.
In the interim I’ve deactivated the plugin so the site is visible again.

Hello John,

Have you checked the settings under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› URI Access Restrictions? Please make sure that there isn’t anything like a / or something like that.
