I’m evaluating the s2members plugin before I purchase however when setting the up the non pro version as a blog farm I noticed that the “Allow Screen administrators to add new users to their Screen via the “Users → Add New” page.” Do I require the pro version before i can allow members to create new users for blogs?

Hi Kevin.

I believe the Pro add-on doesn’t change that, but I’ll ask Jason to confirm it.

Thanks for your patience. :)

Any information on this? I want to let people create users however s2members disables the checkbox I don’t want to run into this issue after purchase as that would be a problem.

Haven’t heard from Jason yet, but I did a test creating an admin for a child blog in a multisite network without s2Member Pro. Logged in with this account making sure it wasn’t an admin for the network, just the blog, and it had the link to add a new user, it wasn’t disabled.

I don’t know why you don’t have the Add New User link available. Are you sure you are logged in to an admin account? Is it there if you deactivate s2Member? Do you have another active plugin that may be changing this in your installation? Try deactivating them to see if it changes. Have you done any WP role editing?

Yes I’m in as a super admin as this is within the networks settings. However the checkbox is visible just set as disabled even though it is visibly checked. When I deactivate s2members it becomes available again,

“Allow blog administrators to add new users to their blog via the “Users → Add New” page.”

Sorry above I said screen, was messing around with the language files when I copy pasted the text my bad. However it says at the top of the page that “Add New Users = 1.” and controlled by s2Members and I don’t see anyting under the multisite config that will change anything.

Thanks for your help,

I see now what you mean. Well, the setting is greyed out in that page, but it doesn’t mean that blog admins can’t create users.

What the message at the top says that s2Member took control of those settings, that’s all. s2Member needs control over these because of its own settings. Just as in a non-multisite WP blog, s2Member takes control over the open registration setting, because it needs to.

It’s greyed out in my installation and I could still have a blog admin create a new user. Did you try to do it or the greyed out box in that page stopped you from testing it?

I figured that was the case, however although it is checked and disabled admins of blogs can’t add users they can only add existing users.

So does that mean you don’t have an answer?

Ok after hours of fooling around I resolved the issue so if this happens to others this is what I found out. You need to first enable the setting before activating the plugin. If the setting if off and then you activate s2members it will appear that the box is checked but will not be active so I had to deactivate the plugin update the network settings then reactivate the s2members plugin.
