Tim,

My apologies for the delayed response. As ekarma recommended, I would try all of the suggestions in this KB article:

http://www.s2member.com/kb/resolving-problems-with-file-downloads/

Corrupted downloads are not normal by any means and if your downloaded zip files are coming out the other end corrupted then the server is doing something to cause that corruption. This is most often caused by strange server-side configuration. The aforementioned KB article has a few tips for things you can try doing to fix this. If those don’t work, please submit a ticket with your access details and we’ll take a look.

Hi Kelli,

The s2Member Pro-Forms do not require a PayPal Pro account. Please see the inline documentation found at Dashboard → s2Member → PayPal Pro-Forms → Quick-Start Guide for PayPal Pro Integration → *PayPal® Pro is NOT Absolutely Required*:

*PayPal® Pro is NOT Absolutely Required* s2Member is very flexible. It is now possible to integrate Pro Forms without a PayPal® Pro account, whereby the enhanced Form Shortcodes that s2Member provides can be integrated ONLY with PayPal® Express Checkout. In other words, if you get declined for PayPal® Pro service, you can still use s2Member Pro Forms. Ask PayPal® to activate Express Checkout for you. ( it’s free ). Once Express Checkout is enabled, you will have access to your PayPal® API Credentials. Log into your PayPal® account, and navigate to Profile -> API Access (or Request API Credentials). You’ll choose ( Request API Signature ). Now … here is the tricky part; whenever you generate a Pro Form Shortcode with s2Member, be sure to change accept=”paypal,visa,mastercard,amex,discover,maestro,solo” to just accept=”paypal”; thereby excluding the on-site credit card processing functionality; which is available only with PayPal® Pro.

This issue has been solved. The problem was that Brian was using the all keyword to restrict **all** s2Member Levels, including Level 4. His users were s2Member Level 1 and since he restricted all Categories and Posts to s2Member Level 4, they were unable to access any of the content. The problem was solved by removing the all keyword from all Levels except Level 1.

Hi Brain,

If you disable the s2Member plugin, do you still have the problem?

If you switch your WordPress theme to one of the default WordPress themes (TwentyTwelve, TwentyThirteen), do you still have the problem?

If you disable all plugins on your site, do you still have the problem?

These are common troubleshooting tips that we ask everyone to follow, as they help rule out some common issues.

Brian,

Can you show me a screenshot of the Category Access Restrictions panel (Dashboard → s2Member → Restriction Options → Category Access Restrictions)?

The problem isn’t with the monthly option. As you mentioned, the monthly option works fine. It’s the annual subscription that isn’t working how you’d like and that’s because you’re tying to apply a monthly discount ($1 for 3 months) to an annual subscription ($49.95/year).

It’s not currently possible to apply a monthly discount (i.e., 3 months for $1 and then charge $49.95/year) with a Pro-Coupon code, however you can setup that arrangement by configuring the Pro-Form as such (charge $1 for the first 90 days and then $49.95/year).

What I recommend doing is setting up a special page with a Pro-Form configured to offer that discount and then restrict access to that form by using some embedded PHP code that checks for the presence of a coupon code of your choice. You could have users access that special page by including the coupon code in the URL (see this KB article for an example) or you could create an HTML form with an input box that asks for the coupon code and then use some PHP to validate the code and show the Pro-Form if the code is correct.

Hi Brian,

The Category Restriction feature has been thoroughly tested and there are no known issues with it on the current version of WordPress. Can you please confirm that you typed all in lowercase in the Category Access Restrictions panel (Dashboard → s2Member → Restriction Options → Category Access Restrictions)?

If it still doesn’t work, could you please provide a screenshot of what you’re seeing when you try to access your posts. We also ask that you test the problem using the default WordPress theme (TwentyThirteen) and with all other plugins disabled to rule out any conflict with your theme or another plugin. Please see Common Troubleshooting Tips.

Hi Kent,

~ Thank you VERY much for your patience.

We are a small team and we’ve been backed up the past week. I apologize for the long delay in getting back to you.

Regarding your question: The Pro Coupon Code is what applies the discount, in your case the $1 trial. If you configure your Pro-Form Shortcode to include a trial, then anyone who signs up via that button/form will automatically get the trail, with or without a coupon.

For your monthly button, as you have the shortcodes configured above, what will happen is those WITHOUT a coupon will be charged $17.85 for the first 90 days, and then charged $5.95/month thereafter (they won’t be charged $5.95 for the first month, but instead will be required to pay 3 months: $17.85). If someone uses the coupon code, then yes, $16.85 will be subtracted from that trial amount and they’ll only pay $1 for the first 3 months.

In your annual button shortcode above, you have a 90-day trial period charged at $17.85, and then an annual payment of $49.95. What will happen here, WITHOUT a coupon, is the person signing up will be charged $17.85 for the first 90 days and then they will be charged $49.95 per year every year thereafter.

If someone uses the first30|16.85||ta-only coupon code when signing up for the annual plan using the shortcode you provided above, then $16.85 will be subtracted from the trial amount of 90-days@$17.85 and they will pay $1 for the first 90-days and then $49.95 every year thereafter.

So, if you want someone to be charged $49.95/year without a coupon code, you must set your trial period to $49.95/year. That way, if they sign up without the coupon code, they’re charged the normal amount. You can then discount that $49.95/year trial period using a coupon code. In the annual case, you might use a coupon code that discounts the trial by $11.31, so they effectively get the first 90 days for $1 and pay the regular amount for the rest of the year.

Hi John,

When using the all- prefix, you must make the custom post type plural by adding s to the end of it. So it should be all-video-trainings. Can you try that and let me know if it works?

Hello,

If the coupon field is not visible on the checkout form, that indicates there are no coupons currently available. We occasionally announce coupons on our mailing list and through our social media channels, so you may want to follow us there to watch for coupon announcements.

Yes, I can imagine that if you are deeply in programming you sometimes loose the view for the simple things which made me crazy for several days. I have very much plugins installed and it isn’t easy to switch everything off, the theme included to find the error. So this thread might help others searching for a solution.

Here you will find all the hints to this theme but that this solves my issue wasn’t quite clear:
http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/General_Troubleshooting_Guide

Thanks again, Marco. I’ve confirmed that a note about this will be added to the next s2Member maintenance release.

~ Thank you for your inquiry.

I’m not sure why this isn’t documented anywhere. We do indeed use the inFocus theme here on s2Member.com but perhaps we’ve gotten so accustomed to using the raw tags on every page that we overlooked the fact that they might actually be necessary for some of the shortcodes to work.

I’ll go ahead and make sure this gets updated in the documentation. Thank you very much for sharing the solution here! If there’s anything else we can help with, please do let us know.

Please try the following snippet of PHP code:

<?php
if ($s2member_auto_eot_time = get_user_field ("s2member_auto_eot_time") ) {
	echo date("Y-M-d h:i e", $s2member_auto_eot_time);
}
?>

If you want to use this PHP code directly on a Post or Page in WordPress, you will need to install a plugin like ezPHP.

Hello,

~Thank you for your inquiry. I’d love to help you! :)

Could you please explain the problem a little more for me? I don’t understand what you’re trying to do. Are you trying to display the amount of time a user has remaining on their membership?

Yes, it could definitely be Ghostery that’s causing that. It sounds like Ghostery blocks certain things and it might be incorrectly blocking something vital for the search feature on s2Member.com.

I tested the s2Member.com search feature with the latest version of Safari and it works great (please see attached screenshot below).

Hi Devra,

My JavaScript / jQuery skills are very rusty (I put the code above together largely through trial-and-error and copy/pasting Jason’s code). However, the most simple way that I can think of generating the username from three fields would be to use the keyup event on the last field. The user will fill out the first two fields and then on the last field the keyup event will run the code that grabs the value from the other two fields and combines them to create your user id.

To improve this, you’ll also want to add some error handling to check if the first two fields are empty when the keyup event is run on the last field, just in case someone skips the first two fields and goes straight to the last field. If either of the first two fields are empty, you can show a JavaScript alert instead of running the code that creates the generated user id.

I hope this helps!

Yes, putting PHP code in the HTML editor and then switching to the Visual Editor will always cause problems, unfortunately.

I’m glad you solved it by putting the code in a template file instead; that would’ve been my next suggestion. :)
