I used to have my membership site working well. I had to make some changes a while ago to avoid the confirmation page redirecting back to the sign up page. Last week I added SSL and it seems that changed everything. I have most things fixed, but the confirmation page now redirects to the sign up page (again) or goes no where at all. It’s different every time I test it.

I am also having a problem with the sign up page. When the customer enters their profile or applies a coupon code, the page jumps up to the top again. I have an autoplay video at the top of the page and so it starts playing again. The customer will still get their information, but I don’t want to annoy people and have them cancel their membership.

I tried resetting the restrictions on the confirmation page and it didn’t work this time. I also use opimizepress, but I have had that theme for quite some time. I love s2member and want this to work. I have the s2member pro and use authorizenet rather than paypal.

The only thing that changed is adding the SSL for my merchant service and I realize I needed another IP address as this is an addon domain on hostgator, I am not sure if that is causing the problem. I know the site is now an https rather than an http. I am really stuck. my site is https://bonniegroessl.com/ (a wordpress site).

I am hoping someone can help :-)

thanks
bonnie

Hi Bonnie.

When you submit a coupon, the page gets loaded again, which is why the person is taken back to the top and the video starts playing from the beginning.

About the SSL, you only need to secure the page where you’ll take the payments with the Auth.Net pro-form, not every page on your site. The rest of the site can remain HTTP without the S.

To secure the page with the pro-form, you can use a custom field s2Member makes available for the page where you’re getting page.

This should help: Pre Sale FAQs » Do I need an SSL certificate to use PayPal® Pro or Authorize.Net®?

So, whatever you did to serve the whole site via HTTPS, you can remove. If it’s another plugin that does it, please deactivate it or it’ll most probably cause a problem, like the one you’re having now.

I hope this helps. :)

Thanks Cristian,

I have my wordpress sites hosted at Hostgator. I contacted them and they told me I cannot make only one page https within WP. (I purchased the SSL from GoDaddy and Hostgator installed it.)

I took off the https on all the whole site. Since I took the htttps off and make the site http in the settings/general of WP, now it is not secure. I read the Q&A link you sent, thanks! I don’t know where to add the custom field of _force_ssl=yes

I use authorize.net and don’t know if I add it to the page and if so, how do I change just that page, or if I add it to the authorize.net pro-form?

The Merchant Service provider I am working with (Power Pay) made it seem like I couldn’t use a forced SSL. When I talked to HostGator, they said it shouldn’t be a problem. Maybe I need to find another merchant service provider. I am really struggling with this and truly appreciate your help!

thanks so much!!

I took off the https and all pages are not http. I cannot get the confirmation page to stop redirecting. It still says requires membership level 0 even though I took it off in the restrictions options page on the s2member. It will work once and then when I retest, just by using the link in my AWeber confirmed opt-in page, after the first time it goes back to redirecting to the registration page.

So even going back to http and unsecuring the site, it still redirects. It used to work, I wish I had a “go back” option :-(

any advice you can offer is appreciated!

I cannot get the confirmation page to stop redirecting.

Could you post the link to that page, please?

Here is the link to the confirmation page, it seems to redirect, and in s2member it says it’s restricted to level 0 or higher. I took that off, but the restriction is still there. Level 0 should be free anyway. I know I had to do something once before to stop the redirect, maybe I didn’t do the right thing. I use optimizepress as a theme and authorize.net as the gateway. The AWeber integration is working, accept for the confirmation page redirect.

thanks!

I see.

Did you happen to set that page as the Login Welcome page? [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Login Welcome Page[/hilite]

The Login Welcome page is restricted at Level 0 by default by s2Member, since it’s meant for logged in users.

What if I changed the url for the page, would that help? I just thought of that this am, is it worth a try?

one more thing …is there a way to bypass the restriction? I did that once before but can’t remember how I did it. I am trying to find the forum discussion from that time. I think it was last fall or December.

I am getting closer! I created a different page with a different URL and that seems to have taken care of the redirect problem. This membership site is a drip method that I use AWeber for and so I really don’t need all the functionality of s2member for this particular membership.

Now I just need to know where to add the s2member_force_ssl = yes short code. Can you tell me where to embed this?

thanks so much!

Bonnie, I may be having similar issues. You can see my other posts. You add this as a custom field to your wordpress page (or post), as shown here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Custom_Fields#Usage

Unfortunately when I add this I get a redirect loop, though I suspect mine is a conflict between Amazon’s and S2s…

Thanks Jim,

I couldn’t figure out how to add the short code. It just kept coming up as text on the page. Since I had fixed the redirect problem by creating a whole new page, with a different name and url, I thought I would just try changing it back to the https again and it WORKED! Now my confirmation page is not redirected and the payment, and Aweber forms work too! I am much happier :-)

Thanks Cristian and Jim!

Glad you sorted it out, Bonnie! Thanks for the update. :)

You can use the s2Member SSL custom field for the page like this:

Jim, regarding the redirection problem you have, I replied in your other thread.
