I am wondering if the subscription form can be adjusted in terms of color and contrast.
Part of my audience are older people and I had some remarks that due to the low contrast some of the textboxes are hard to see for these old eyes.

You can style it with CSS. Use firebug to find the right selectors and test your styles, and then add your code to your CSS file. http://getfirebug.com ;)
