s2Member Pro installation

I am the webmaster for a professional organization with hundreds of members. We have a membership chairperson who is responsible for entering and editing member information. I need to allow her to have access to the s2Member panel while blocking/hiding access to most of the Admin panel. The President and Treasurer also need access to member information.

How do I set up s2Member to allow editing/entry of member info without giving access to other Admin functions?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Mike

Hi there. Thanks for your inquiry Mike.

I’m so sorry, we do NOT currently support Administrative Users within WordPress. s2Member is designed for end-users of a site, and not for Users/Members that actually gain access to your Dashboard in some way. This could certainly be accomplished, using s2Member as a framework on which to build such a site, but it’s not something that s2Member provides by default. Here are some links that might help in your work to integrate this.

Hello Mike.

s2Member doesn’t manage access to the admin side of WordPress, only the front end.

You may want to look into WordPress roles to see how you could give those users the special permissions.

I hope that helps. :)

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I will need to manage the issue by adding some code to the functions.php file for my theme. I should be able to accomplish this by making certain parts of the WP Dashboard unavailable and not displayed for certain roles. I should have asked this question before I purchased s2Member Pro.

The capability to to define Admin rights and roles is something that would be very useful. I use aMember Pro on other (non-WordPress) websites. In aMember Pro, the Admin has the capability to define rights and capabilities for other Admins as well as the members. I may need to purchase aMember Pro to get real “pro” membership management capabilities.

Thanks again for your replies,
Mike

Hi Mike. Thanks for the follow-up.

Yes, that’s correct. I’m sorry, but we don’t have any immediate plans to support administrative permissions with s2Member. Our focus with s2Member and s2Member Pro is on User accounts only.
