I am using Authorize.net proforms for my site. When I tried registering with everything in Sandbox/Testing mode, everything worked right. When I switched to live mode, I began receiving Error #25, which Authorize.net defines as

An error occurred during processing. Please try again in 5 minutes.

https://www.authorize.net/support/merchant/Transaction_Response/Response_Reason_Codes_and_Response_Reason_Text.htm#25

Trying later did not help. To make sure that it was not an issue with the Authorize.net account, I set up a Specific Page buy now form using the following shortcode:

[s2Member-Pro-AuthNet-Form sp="1" ids="1377" exp="24" desc="Test purchase for a buy it now page." cc="USD" custom="mysite.org" ra="0.01" accept="visa,mastercard,amex,discover" coupon="" accept_coupons="0" default_country_code="US" captcha="0" /]

This purchase went through without any issue while in live mode. After the single purchase went through, I regenerated the following subscription shortcode to test again:

[s2Member-Pro-AuthNet-Form level="3" ccaps="" desc="$320 USD / One Time (for 1 year access, non-recurring) - Testing purposes" cc="USD" custom="mysite.org" ta="0" tp="0" tt="D" ra="320" rp="1" rt="Y" rr="0" rrt="" accept="visa,mastercard,amex,discover" coupon="" accept_coupons="0" default_country_code="US" captcha="0" /]

Once again, I received an Error #25 from Authorize.net. My auth-net-api.log file only shows an error #25 as well.

'response_code' => '3',
'response_subcode' => '3',
'response_reason_code' => '25',
'response_reason_text' => 'An error occurred during processing. Please try again.',

Have you seen this before? Is there something I need to activate on my Authorize.net account, or in my WordPress install?

Nevermind. I contacted Authorize.net, and my account was not set up to process American Express cards. When my one transaction went through, I had used a MasterCard.

Note to other users getting frustrated: You must specifically set up your Authorize.net account to accept American Express and Discover cards, otherwise you will get an unhelpful error back from them.

Thanks for the update and sharing your solution, Marcia! I’m glad you sorted it out. :)
