auto-responder emails on user role upgrade

I saw an old post about having an email responder sent if changing a user role, and at that time it said it wasn’t available. Its been a while and I wanted to ask if there has been any update to the capability. I have a site that I am allowing free registration but I want to be able to approve the user before a password is sent. Then on approval (which I’m doing by manually upgrading the user role) I would like the password sent by email. Is this possible?

Which lead me to wonder if I manually add a user, are they notified with the user name and password as well?

No this has not been added yet. However it’s definitely coming in the next generation of s2Member, which will come out some time this year.

To answer your question, no this is not possible. Even WordPress itself only has access to the password for a very short amount of time during registration. After that time it’s encrypted and stored in the database, you cannot retrieve it.

That is correct. An email will be sent to whatever email account you setup.
