I have a membership site with a 30-day trial and I want to allow people upgrade their membership during the trial.

I saw the section in S2 “Giving Members The Ability To Modify Their Own Subscription” this talks about using Paypal to do this… however, I’m using authorize.net as the processor…not paypal.

I would like them to be able to upgrade their membership without my intervention.

The primary keys would be to cancel the initial membership so they won’t be billed twice…and that I don’t have to manually cancel them.

Hi Antonio.

Remember that the user has to be logged in to his account for the upgrade to happen, otherwise he’ll be creating a new account.

If I’m not mistaken, when the user starts a new subscription, the previous one will be ended by s2Member. At least that’s how it works for the PayPal integration, so I’m assuming it’ll be that way for Authorize.Net.

I’m emailing Jason to ask him to confirm this. He may take a few days to reply, because he isn’t checking his inbox as often now, and he just did yesterday, but I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from him.

Or you could do a couple test live 1 cent transactions to see how it behaves. :)

Thanks for the heads up on this request for support.

Yes, that is correct. When an upgrade occurs, the old billing profile (and any recurring charges that were associated with it), are discarded, and a new billing profile is created to take it’s place. This works the same as it does with PayPal Pro.
