Quick question about URI restrictions in Buddypress. I want to restrict access to individual member profiles, but not the members directory itself.

So, how do I change

…/members-directory/xyzmember

to something like

…/members-directory/member/xyzmember

so that I can use URI restrictions on /members-directory/members/ and not /members-directory/ which would restrict the entire directory

Thanks in advance…

Hi Josua.

You’d have to change the permalink in BuddyPerss, but I don’t know how to do that. Haven’t used BP much myself.

Maybe another user here can help you with that? Although I suggest you ask this question in the BuddyPress support forum at buddypress.org to get a quicker answer.

I hope that helps. :)

Cristian,

I\’m the guy that brought up the tag restriction issue a couple months back. S2Member is an absolutely amazing product that should sell for 5 times what it does.

I just wish it there was more guides published on how to easily apply it to obvious applications like the tag… or my current problem… how to apply URI restrictions to the default WP/BP URI structure without the benefit of wildcards.

Thanks for the kudos, very appreciated. :)

Hmm… well, if you want to go advanced with URI restrictions, one thing comes to mind, which I haven’t tried, but you could play with:

Use mod_rewrite rules into .htaccess to match the URLs you want and add to them a string that s2Member will pick with the URI restriction.

I hope that helps!
