I just inherited a site which is built is Word Press and uses s2Member. I’ve upgraded to PRO because I was told it would give me auto-populate capabilities. I have used neither Word Press nor s2Member before. I am more familiar with Web Plus and WYSIWYG Webbuilder.

NOTE: I am not a professional web developer – just a hobbyist who has volunteered to maintain a website for a non-profit cancer foundation. And am under a time crunch here.

I have a membership database and a photo submission form on the site. I need to add a continuing education workshop from with PayPal.

I have checked the videos, FAQ’s and this forum, but am unable to find simple, step-by-step instructions for what I need to do. So if anyone can just give me a link or two, it would be greatly appreciated. I am way over my head here.

What I need to do.

Build a registration form that auto-populates from the membership database for members (or can be filled in by non-members) and allows payment through PayPal. Non-members pay a higher fee for the workshop or have the option of becoming members for the membership fee and then pay the lower member registration fee.

The lexicon of both Word Press and s2Member is a major problem for me. And I’m working with a site that caters to cancer surgeons and dentists so this can’t be a Micky mouse thing. (I have been “computer literate” since the mid-80’s and find neither of these programs user-friendly and both are highly esoteric.

Any help that can be offered is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Mike Stahl

Hello Michael, I’ll answer your questions to the best of my ability. ;)

Build a registration form that auto-populates from the membership database for members (or can be filled in by non-members) and allows payment through PayPal.

This is correct, this does come with s2Member pro. Although just understand, this does not work if the user is not logged in first, if he isn’t logged in, it won’t be auto-populated. If you use PayPal as your payment gateway then you can accept payments through PayPal, not sure if it won’t work if PayPal is not your payment gateway. :/

Non-members pay a higher fee for the workshop or have the option of becoming members for the membership fee and then pay the lower member registration fee.

This is possible if I understood correctly, you would simply have s2Member conditionals that would separate the content depending if the user is logged in or not, or if he has certain access or not. Just understand that you can’t have more than 1 pro-form in one page/post currently, so you would have a page that redirects the user to the page with the pro-form that applies to him, which would also be protected depending on what level/ccap you wan the user to have before being able to buy that.

Hope this helps. :)

P.S.:

And I’m working with a site that caters to cancer surgeons and dentists so this can’t be a Micky mouse thing.

Don’t you mean Mickey Mouse?

Hi Mike.

Build a registration form that auto-populates from the membership database for members (or can be filled in by non-members) and allows payment through PayPal.

You can use the pro-form to register and get paid. It won’t pre-populate since s2Member doesn’t have the person’s info yet. It can be used with PayPal to receive payment, yes. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› PayPal® Pro Forms[/hilite]

Non-members pay a higher fee for the workshop or have the option of becoming members for the membership fee and then pay the lower member registration fee.

You can show adjust the attributes of the pro-form, or show a different pro-form, based on whether the user is logged or what level he has.

The lexicon of both Word Press and s2Member is a major problem for me.

Please let me know what terms you’re having trouble with, I’ll try to explain them.
