can I use S2 Member for individual downloads?

Hello,

I am building an adult content fetish site with WordPress and I want to sell my video clips individually, not through memberships. I plan to use ccbill as a merchant processor.

– I already have over 500 individual fetish clips to sell, each has it’s specific price
– Users will select the clip or clips they want to buy, enter their credit card info, and submit, then be given a link where they can download the clips
– I do not want to force people to select a username and password. This is important for conversion reasons, I need as few steps as possible for the user to buy and download their clips
– I am shopping for merchant processors, but I think CCbill is my best option
– I am using WordPress Multisite to build and manage my sites.

Will this work with S2 Member Plugins?

Hi Todd.

I’m afraid you will not be able to do that exactly. s2Member doesn’t have a cart to let the visitor select stuff to buy before doing the checkout. You have buttons that sell what you specified for them in the shortcode, and it can be dynamic if you use PHP in the shortcode, but you still need the rest of the stuff for a cart.

Also, although you can sell individual things using custom capabilities, they require a user account. Specific Post/Page restriction works without an account, but then you’d have to buy the access to the pages in pre-configured bundles, or all of them individually in separate purchases, which isn’t practical.

You can check out what the restrictions let you do and not, in the free version of s2Member. The Pro add-on would add the ccBill gateway, but the rest of what you want you can try now without purchasing.

Along the lines of the questions above, I am building a site where members have a limited number of ebook downloads a month but once they hit their limit, I want the option for them to purchase individual downloads for the remainder of the month if they want. Is that possible? I also want to be able to just sell individual downloads if someone is not interested in purchasing a monthly membership. Is that also possible?

Yeah, you could do something like that. You can sell a membership at Level 1 with a few downloads available and when they hit their limit, be shown a page that offers them an upgrade to Level 2, which would allow all the downloads they want.

You can sell access without requiring a registration, by using the Specific Post/Page access restriction. So you create a page for each download, and put the download link in it. Video » s2Member (Specific Posts/Pages)
