can you change wp-login to login?

Hi, I would like to remove the wp from the wp-login.php link as well as the register link. I looked online and changes to the .htaccess file is frequently mentioned but I wanted to check with s2member about this before making any such changes. Is there an easy way to do this that will cause the least confusion for s2member and for my website? Thank you.
