I’m sorry if this is easy . . . how can I force a return to the Membership Options Page when customer, in PayPal, clicks on “Cancel and return to [my_website] ?

I don’t know if PayPal lets you configure what URL to return the user to after a cancellation. You could look for that in your PayPal settings.

When returned after the cancellation, it’d be good to see if any variables unique to the cancellation are added to the URL. If so, you could create a hack in the must-use plugins folder (/wp-content/mu-plugins/) that checks for that variable and, if present, redirects to the Memberhip Options page.
