Custom checkout forms not working

I am trying to make some small changes to the registration form.

I have identified which from I need to change in s2member-pro > includes > templates >

I have copied this file to my theme folder [a child-theme]

But with no result. The original template is still being used.

I have also tried renaming the checkout template that is in my theme folder and inserting template=”name-of-template.php” in the shortcode for the Paypal pro form [which I am using with express checkout], but to no success either.

I can’t see anything that I am missing.

Any clues?
