Hi,
is it possible to send custom confirmation emails based on the different type of membership someone has chosen?
For example, we’d like to offer both individual and family membership options, so it seems that the confirmation email should be different for each..
Or does it just need to be generic to all?
Thanks for any advice

Hello there,

I’m afraid currently you can’t customize it a lot, as far as I’m aware. You can customize it globally, so that it outputs different bits of data, depending the user. For example you can configure the name it outputs, etc.

I believe there was an old thread on this, but the end result was that it was coming on the next generation of s2Member.

Which will come between early, and middle 2013, I’m afraid.

Hey Eduan,
thanks very much for your swift reply.
I thought this might be the case, but thought there might be something I’d missed.
We’ll write something that fits everyone for now then, and look forward to seeing s2member get even more awesome next year!
Thanks again

Hi Cristian,
thank you also for your reply.
So, if I understand correctly, the email referred to in that post by Jason (which can be adapted by adding and tweaking those filters) is in addition to the emails that are sent out during and after registration, respectively?

In which case, the standard confirmation emails (during and after registration) would still need to be fairly generic, so they’d make sense whether you were paying for membership as an individual, a family, a school or whatever else options we are offering?

Thanks again

Ah, I see. So you want to edit the New User email, not the Signup Confirmation one? In that case, you’d need to write another hack for it, I don’t remember one being posted before for it…

In the file s2member\includes\classes\email-configs.inc.php you’ll find the string [hilite code]$msg = $GLOBALS["WS_PLUGIN__"]["s2member"]["o"]["new_user_email_message"][/hilite]. You could hack that to be different depending on your conditions.

If you don’t know enough to achieve it, you may want to hire a freelancer from a site like jobs.wordpress.net, elance.com or odesk.com. :)

Aha!
You’re right.. it’s the new user email I’m talking about, not the signup confirmation one. My apologies for the confusion!

And while I’ve hacked various WP plugins and added filters to functions files and stuff, I think I should probably just work with what’s there in this case… It’s a great system, and I only know enough to be slightly dangerous, so should probably leave it alone for now :o)

Thanks again for your time and knowledge

Glad I could help!
