I would like to disable the wp-admin login page and redirect users to an alternate page that gives them instructions on what to do if they are unsuccessful with the login

Please advise.

Hello Yvette,

Currently it isn’t completely possible to replace the wp-login.php page with something else.

Although one thing you can do is use the login widget in your website through PHP. Check Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / Scripting -› Pro Login Widget (via PHP), you could also use the login widget as a widget, you can find that under WordPress’ widgets section.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi Eduan,

I am using the login widget, but what I’m looking for is another option if a user incorrectly logs in…

I don’t want them to have the option to get or create a new password, as their passwords will be assigned

Any thoughts on how I can make this happen? Can you change the code for the widget to redirect to another page if the login is incorrect?

Thanks…

Hi Yvette.

When there’s a failed login, the user is taken to /wp-login.php. There isn’t yet a setting in the widget to specify a redirection to another page in this situation.

I’m adding it to our list of feature requests, thanks for the idea.

You could add your instructions in the login page’s footer from here: [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› General Options -› Login Registration Design[/hilite]

I hope it helps. :)

You could, but then again, the only page integrated to actually output those errors and actually make sure they’re true etc. Is the wp-login.php page.

If you really need to modify it, then you can always hire a freelancer that modifies WordPress to do this for you, please understand though, this is not a good solution, every time you update WordPress you will probably lose the changes, and you will probably have to re-do the hack every time, since every release WordPress might have changed something. I suggest you hire a freelancer over at jobs.wordpress.net, and hire him so that he does a plugin for this.

Hope this helps. :)
