Tl:dr: If your button code is for http://mysite.com but your site uses htaccess to force http://www.mysite.com, would this prevent people from being able to register after they pay? Full story: So I was using Cloudflare on my site, which forces all urls to resolve to http://site.com instead of http://www.site.com. I decided I didn’t like it and got rid of it. After I got rid of Cloudflare, two members registered for my site. I saw their paypal confirmation email but no membership registration email. I sent them an email to inquire and they said that they had paid and then not been given the option to register. The first time, I figured it was a problem on the user’s end, but when it happened twice, I knew there was an issue with my site. I went back to my button code and realized the button code was set for http://mysite.com even though htaccess forced my site to resolve to http://www.mysite.com. I updated the button code to be http://www.mysite.com and am hoping that that fixes the issue. However, I’d like confirmation that having the button code set for http://mysite.com could indeed be responsible for this error. I don’t want any more users to pay and be unable to register, so if I did not correctly find the source of the error, then I will need to keep troubleshooting. Could anyone clarify this for me? |
