I have the free s2Member plugin. Considering the paid version, but gotta work out this problem first. I have a post with a link to a protected file, per instructions:

<a href="http://[my_domain_here]/?s2member_file_download=test-document.docx">Download</a>

But I get a custom 404 error when I click the link:
404: Sorry, file not found. Please contact Support for assistance.

I have a notice on-screen in the Dashboard that says:

Possible GZIP conflict on server. Unable to write GZIP exclusions into root .htaccess file (/.htaccess). Please read the panel below: Preventing GZIP Conflicts, and add this section yourself:

	RewriteEngine On
	RewriteBase /
	RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} (^|?|&amp;)s2member_file_download=.+
	RewriteRule .* - [E=no-gzip:1]

But not sure if this is the cause, or there’s some other issue.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a windows 2008 R2 server so the .htaccess code, if relevant, needs to be ported.

Anybody else have (and solved) this problem?

thanks,
Matt
