Error: this page isn't redirecting properly

Once I activate the plugin, I can navigate the whole site with no issues except for the home page.

It works once the plugin is deactivated. I also have tried other membership plugins and they do the same.

Firefox error when navigating to home page:
The page isn’t redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

After reading form(s) and researching this error it has something to do with:
“Plugin will redirect HTTPS URLs to HTTP and visa versa. Sometimes other plugins or themes are trying to do this as well, and they kind of get into a look with each other.”

Also I found articles that say to edit or remove the .httpaccess file… What is your take on this?
