Hi,
I have scoured your forums and unless I have missed something, I have not found a satisfactory solution to my concern.
I was on the point of upgrading to one of your ‘Pro’ versions simply so that I had the facility to export complete user profiles to a ‘CSV’ file so that I could use Excel and Access to monitor and act on the information provided therein.

It appears that your ‘Pro’ export tool does nothing more than I can already do with other free plugins but I do not want to have to dabble with ‘PHP’ or perform multiple ‘queries’ to get a readable and usable format. Or worse have to input the data manually, which I feel I would have to do because Access can be quite temperamental with even simple ‘Append’ queries.

I have to say that at this point that my requirements do not necessitate complex payment gateways because in the first instance I will be looking for free subscribers with possible ‘Up-sell’ options for a future date.
My aim was to get comfortable with your system before I reached that time. Unfortunately, even your paid versions do not give me what I, perhaps naively, considered to be basic but essential functionality.

Perhaps your system is bigger than my needs so my question is simply this; is it in your plans to address this issue in the very near future or do I have to start again with another membership system?

I really do not want to spend any more time on a system that will not ultimately do what I want it to do, so a prompt and honest response would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards

David

Thank you for your inquiry.

I’m very sorry about the delay in response.

I’m not sure what you’re looking for here. What issue do you want us to address?

Current s2Member’s User Import and Export supports both the standard WordPress fields, and Custom Registration/Profile Fields that you set up with s2Member. Is that not enough for your purposes? What exactly are you looking for?

I’m not understanding your needs. I’m sorry.

I am very sorry for not explaining myself clearly.

The ‘issue’ is similar to that of, and perhaps better explained by ‘Kurt’ who posted question #31729 in this forum on Thursday Nov 15th, 2012. The thread was answered by Raam and followed up by Cristián. Kurt ended the thread with the comment:

“That’s disappointing. I’m sure others would like to be able to extract the custom field data.”

I am one of those ‘others’ as my ‘needs’ are identical to his.

I have not been able to find any more recent comments or simple ‘workarounds’ that follow this up

I simply want to be able to export ALL user data, i.e. ‘WP’ and ‘s2member custom fields’ into single CSV file which will open in Microsoft Excel in columns with ‘Field Titles’ and with the cells being populated with the ‘Field Data’ relevant to the ‘Field Title’ even if there are fields (not required) that have been left blank.

My question, rather clumsily put, was really; whether or not you felt this ‘issue’ warranted ‘addressing’ in future updates or not?

I hope this is clearer and I apologise again for over complicating my original question.

Oh I see what you’re saying now. s2Member actually recently was updated to support this better. The new format is gone over in this KB article:

Knowledge Base » Import (or Mass Update) Users

We now have Custom Fields split into columns, which makes the answer in that thread incorrect now. This was changed in s2Member Pro version 130203. Here’s the changelog for that:

Thank you Bruce,

I have already seen that article but it only refers to ‘Importing’ data and I could find nothing relating to ‘Exporting’ data?

I don’t know if this is just me being stupid?

Here’s an example CSV row in that article: http://www.s2member.com/kb/importing-updating-users/#extended-details

The exported CSV row would be similar to that. The user ID would not be blank, because you’re exporting an existing user, and the custom registration fields would correspond to those you have configured in your site.

Does that help? :)

Excellent!

Thank you Cristián. Exactly what I wanted to see. :)

Kind regards
