(Multisite. Allows open registrations in general settings plus S2member Allow open registration option.)

Hi! I was about to purchase your plugin but I found out that you promt customers to check the free version first to see if its compatible with theme and plugins so I am working hard on setting S2member on my own watching again and again your videos. I have come to a good point, or at least that is what I thought.

I ve set “membership page” and designed it adding the paypal buttons, “login page” with text and directions, restricted two categories for levei 0 and 1, I set paypal and everything seemed right when I tried to register.

The site wont register me as a free user! (haven’t tested the level 1 user yet, just started with level 0, though it nicely takes me to my paypal business account)

It seems it will take me to the login page for a second, as I see at the url address, but it will immediately take me back to memberships options page leaving the “user” out.

It will log me as an administrator. If I deactivate s2member it gave me this message:

“You attempted to access the “heWantsCyber.com” dashboard, but you do not currently have privileges on this site. If you believe you should be able to access the “heWantsCyber.com” dashboard, please contact your network administrator.”

Original url of my site: cyber.juicyflesh.com

It has domain mapping: hewantscyber.com

(It is a PhD art project :) )

I have activated and deactivated all the plugins several times when I had some conflicts and it worked, but now it doesnt.

In the Network Admin Site Settings the Users Can Register number is 0 (?)

I hope there is a quick solution cause I like your plugin and I want to purchase it

Thank you

Selene

more info
I registered specifically for this site again with an existing wp user, email and password

It gave me a successful registration message and it took me to

a) cyber.juicyflesh.com/login-0
then
b) hewantscyber/login-0

and then to

http://hewantscyber.com/cyber-memberships/?_s2member_seeking%5Btype%5D=page&_s2member_seeking%5Bpage%5D=219&_s2member_seeking%5B_uri%5D=L2xvZ2luLTAv&_s2member_req%5Btype%5D=level&_s2member_req%5Blevel%5D=0&_s2member_res%5Btype%5D=sys&s2member_seeking=page-219&s2member_level_req=0

also in the login page (back end) on the top right it says:

This Page is your:
Login Welcome Page
( automatically guarded by s2Member )

also when I try to link in my membership page the registration link
http://cyber.juicyflesh.com/wp-login.php?action=register

it redirects it to
http://cyber.juicyflesh.com/wp-login.php

and I have to go manually to the registration page, as if something is stopping it
update: it is a “wordpress mu domain mapping” problem, if this plugin is deactivated the register link works

Im trying to write here every piece of info that you may find useful, thank you

Ok… It has a conflict with the Password Protected plugin…

Though I haven’t enabled it locally, when it is network activated it will not allow the free registration process, at least not obviously.

I just tried to locally activate the password protected plugin locally in my main site and even that will create a conflict.

I now deactivated it completely and it will log me in but it will take me to memberships, not my login page (it took me to the login page the first time I accidentally logged in from the e-mail link while the “password protected” plugin was deactivated). Is that the norm? It will take me to my login page if I click on the edit my profile button

Hm I’ll try a new registration to see what happens…

Ok… I’m leaving this info here so other people who may have the same issue can see…

So A) I deleted the “password protected” plugin (I have 2-3 sites on progress that people can see now but whatever…I’ll S2member them haha)

I can register now.

but still it will take me to the membership page. I can access level 0 posts.

now I have a new thing also, I have forgotten the password for that “new user” and the whole process of retrieving it happened to my main site “juicyflesh.com” with an ending result to be suddenly registered in that site instead of the “hewantscyber.com” site. So I was logged in to wordpress but I didnt know I wasnt logged in to hewantscyber.com so I didnt access the level 0 posts.

Then I registered for THAT site, and it took me to the membership page… but at least I had access to level 0 posts.

But I am sure that at one point it took me to my login page…. :((( what happened? :)

..and now its not working again…. are you doing anything there? :)
deactivated all my plugins s2member too… I allowed open registrations at my main site too cause I thought I could disable it there locally before… but maybe that caused the conflict…
So now everything is working well and I am activating first s2member again and then one by one the plugins… and keeping my fingers crossed…

update
after I lost my whole network from everywhere (chrome, safari, ftp, host…) I found it again…

So until now I see there is a huge conflict with the WordPress MU Domain Mapping (maybe the password protected too – I have deleted this earlier – probably too many redirections?)

I deactivated it and the domain still redirects to my site but everytime there is the mapped domain name in the url the user is invisible and acts as if he s NOT logged in – but he is. When I have subdomain urls it works and the user is logged in and can access his level…

Any ideas…?
:I

problems finalized

1) S2member will not work with domain mapping

cant cancel the domain mapping… I dont want all my sites to show “juicyflesh” in their url… I have sites for business and this is a specific project

2) lost password will take me to the main site

I’ve seen here and there similar threads so I guess this is not new to you, may somebody please point me to an updated solution if there is or if not, please let me know

Thank you

(fixed the lost password issue from here:
http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/login-widget-on-multisite/#post-19982

thank you)

if somebody knows something I can do with the domain mapping and s2member I would appreciate it. Maybe somebody uses another plugin for domain mapping instead that works better or a setting in s2member?

For the time I have it deactivated so as for it to work. For the moment it is impossible I buy separate hosting but after I make some money and if this is the only solution I will do that…

I also found Jasons answer to this here….
http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/login-redirection-problem-when-domain-mapping/

Well if somebody knows if this is the final statement or there is something new after that please let me know

Hello Selene,

Thanks for all this useful info! Very useful, I’m compiling this into my list of incompatible plugins. :)

So just to confirm…

There are incompatibilities with the “Password Protected” plugin, correct? What are the problems caused by this plugin?

And with the “WordPress MU Domain Mapping” plugin. What exactly does it accomplish? And what are the problems that come with it? Why do you need it in other words?

Thanks!
– Eduan
