Free trial for website users

Hi, Our website requires users to sign up for either a monthly or yearly subscription to view certain pages on the site. We’ve been running an offer where users can try us free for one month. The way we’ve been doing this is by manually entering them and setting their membership to monthly. When their first month has expired will they no longer be able to log in unless they then start to pay? I had hoped that s2member automatically detected this but I’m not 100% sure. Any help would be very much appreciated. AW
