Hi there,

tried to create a new Member Registration Access Link since two days now – but it does not work any longer. It’s still the same: I click on Generate Access Link and it loads and loads and loads and nothing happens.

Tried it in another s2member installation and there it works.

The plugin is totally up to date, and WordPress, too.

What’s up here?

Thanks!

Gordon

Hello Gordon,

What version of WordPress do you have?

Also, have you changed theme or something along those lines recently?

If not, have you installed any plugins recently?

Looking forward to your answer. :)

Hi,

WP 3.4.

Theme changed: No.

Theme updated: Yes (using Headway Themes 3.2.1 now).

Plugins: Phew… no, none installed but one I used to get Google Splittests running disabled…

Thanks for your reply.

Hello Gordon,

Could you please try making a theme compatibility test? Just change back to the default theme (TwentyEleven) and see if it works.

Also, try also doing a compatibility test with other plugins, simply disable all the plugins except s2Member, if itworks, then enable them one by one until the problem appears again.

Hope this helps. :)

Okay, so I deactivated ALL plugins (without s2member of course) – no change, it still didn’t worked, so I got all plugins activated again.

Theme: Well, I don’t have other themes than the current installed… (not even Twenty Eleven or something). AND I am a bit procrastinating… because… Changing the THEME… I am afraid of loosing some design settings or something… :)

Is it really necessary?

Hello Gordon,

Then I suggest you make a total backup of your website, and then change the theme. ;)

Ok, did it – and IT’S TRUE!!!

With Twenty Eleven for example it works again!

Harr… what to do now?!

I guess I can only write to the Headway support team, right?

Thanks for your kind help! :)

Ok, I headed this over to Headway and they told me, that I should put this over to you again. They can’t do anything on their side, when the plugins does not work with their theme. The plugin developer has to solve this problem…

What do I have to do for you to get things working again?

Thanks!

Hello Gordon,

Well, Jason once said in a recent post, that s2Member works with any theme that’s well coded for WordPress, it’s been tested many times for that.

So I suggest you either insist they check their code and make sure it’s good with WordPress’ standards.

Or find another theme that works and looks the same way.

Or hire a freelancer that makes sure it works, so finds the problem and fixes it.

I would recommend doing the second option, since in each update you would have to check the code again, unless they fix it themselves.

Hope this helps. :)

That’s funny. The theme developer say the plugin developer have to make sure their plugin work with the themes, the plugin developer say the theme developer have to make that sure :)

BTW: Headway is a premium WordPress theme. So I think the code should be very well coded for even the newest WordPress version… I have paid for the theme, am very satisfied with it and definitely don’t wanna change.

Howsoever, I now have to see what to do, cause neither you nor the theme developer seem wanting to really help in here.

Thanks nevertheless!

Gordon

Hello Gordon,

I understand the problem.

Here’s a quote on a chat Cristián and Jason had once in the old forums (Cristián posted it):
http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/tabs-missing-in-admin/#post-13046

Show that to the developers and see if they can see the problem. ;)

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks, but Headway send a follow up respond and their tip solved the problem!

Thanks!

In the Headway options I had to deactivate the GZIP function.
