Hide topics from bbPress' Recent Topic widget

Another question:

I have bbpress forum installed, is there a way to restrict topics from showing within the Recent Topic widget that users don’t have access to?

I can filter the forums using attach_s2member_query_filters() but the topics still show since they are not protected.

I’m also using custom capability instead of roles to separate the members.

Hmm… I was going to suggest trying to protect the topics with the URI restriction, until you mentioned being using ccaps instead of levels.

I guess you’ll need to create a hack that checks what forum the topic is in, then check if the user has access to that, and apply it to the topic.

Yea I did that, except I found out that if i use Alternate View Protection or attach_s2member_query_filters(), the first post of any bbpress thread doesn’t show up for some reason.

Is there a fix for that?

No, no idea. I haven’t used bbPress myself, or that widget, so I’ve never tried hacking it or found that problem yet.

Could you post the hack you tried, with all the info you can give, so someone with bbPress that is familiar with this may help you? Once you post that, I can then also ask Jason if he can spot from it why you may have that problem.
