Hey gang,

I’m still configuring many aspects of the software. However after working on it last night I woke up this morning to find my blogs were not accessible. I didn’t get a notice to join though, I just got a 404 error. I went in and deleted the restrictions I had set up last night and I could see everything again.

How do I keep the software from going live until I’ve completed setup and tested everything?
Why didn’t I get a notice to join? Is it because I’m not done setting the software up yet?

Thanks in advance,
Ron

Hi Ron.

I’m not sure from that info. If you could, please post a screenshot of your restrictions and the URL that gave you the 404, please. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options[/hilite]

No, we don’t have a mode where the restrictions are set but not active. Once you apply the restriction, it goes live. You can create some pages for testing your restrictions and then add the rest of the stuff to protect. Or you can create a dev installation of the site to work out your setup and then, after you’re satisfied, copy it to the live site.

I hope that helps. :)

Well rather than do that Christian, let me tell you what I’m trying to do. I have S2 installed on my blog. What I’d like to do is set up a Free level where members have to register to see my blogs. However I still want the blogs to show on the site as they do now, with the title, the picture and the first few lines of text.

They’ll all so get a 5 lesson video course, drip-feed. I’ve downloaded a plugin to handle the drip-feeding. When I put my restrictions in for level 0, I put in the actual ID numbers to the pages where each video is posted, and then I used the “all” tag for posts.

The videos are hosted with Amazon S3. I have input my security keys in the spaces provided but I left all the download information blank.

Thanks.

OK, when you say blogs, do you mean a multisite network? So you’d have a main blog that links to the other blogs in the multisite network?

No Cristian, sorry about that. I was only referring to the articles themselves. I only have one site, one blog. I have already posted 100 articles.

Oh, got ya.

OK, so you have a single blog, with 100 posts, and you want visitors to see part of them in the listing, but not the full article. You want to require that they register free and you’ll drip 5 full articles? What happens to the other 95, will they have to pay for access to those?

No, they can have access to all the articles. I have a video e-course that has 5 lessons. I want to drip that once a week. I’ve been delivering the course and the posts via auto-responder for almost a year. I actually posted another thread earlier today about all that. If you don’t mind maybe we should just close this thread and continue the conversation there.

Got it. I just posted a reply there.
