I have a membership site currently built out on WL member. It has a free membership level with limited access and two different paid levels.

I am very unhappy with the way that WL member handles a user upgrading to a new level of paid membership. When they click upgrade, it redirects them to paypal to add new recurring billing (which is fine) but then it awkwardly redirects them to a page in the site that makes them basically re register again.

How does you plugin handle this?

Hello Nelson, thanks for your inquiry.

s2Member handles this with modification buttons or pro-forms (for the pro version), which will allow you to modify the status of the member in question, they must be a member for these to work, and it allows them to downgrade or upgrade, depending on how the button was configured.

These are available in the free version of s2Member, and the pro-forms are available in the free version of s2Member.

Hope this helps. :)

As long as the user is logged in to his account when he starts the modification, his account will be modified and no new account will be required.

If the user is not logged in, then s2Member will relate that purchase to a new user account to be created. So you’d show the modification button in a page protected at, at least, Level 0, which would mean the person is logged in.

Here’s a video on modification buttons:
