I’m liking what I see here…but is the directory searchable?? can there be “tags” added so that if someone is searching for a person they will show up??

Also can the membership directory be seen by the public? I’d like the membership directory to be seen so that those looking to join can see who is already part of the organization??

Hi there. Thanks for your inquiry.

s2Member and s2Member Pro are geared more toward ecommerce than social networking. However, s2Member is fully compatible with BuddyPress & bbPress, which can be connected together all within WordPress. The BuddyPress/s2Member combination is pretty awesome, and I think that’s what you’re looking for. Please see: http://buddypress.org/

not looking for social network per se but just thought it would be nice to have the directory searchable. I will look at buddypress.

Thanks

Jason you are skating on the question. This is NOT a social network issue. There are many requests to have a searchable membership capability and it was something that was promised by you last year. So are you going to deliver on your promise?

Hi there. Thanks for the follow-ups.

Yes, I suppose that I am. But I’m skating the question because it’s my job to report what is possible in the current release clearly. While we are working to further improve s2Member overall (and yes, this is something we’re working on), it’s NOT possible in the current release. You would need to use BuddyPress, or bbPress perhaps.

A member directory is coming in a future release of s2Member though, so yes. In the mean time, if BuddyPress or bbPress is not an option for you, the core WordPress function get_users() could be used to build your own, blending it with your theme for WordPress. See: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_users

I was able to use the members-list plugin successfully with s2member.

I don’t know how to use the “get user” …. having this product be more then it is would be great…AND would of been nice to know before installing it…. .
