I’ve not been able to get remote podcasting working properly, despite following all of the instructions closely. iTunes (and other podcast software) reject the username/password for any level of member, though they’ve been given permission to download (and can do it through a link just fine).

I’ve followed the downloads & podcasting directions precisely as indicated, including how in I build links and give permission to members for download access.

Can someone point me to what might be going on here? Alternatively, could I hire someone (as I did with the original creation of this podcasting capability for s2Member, which I’ve not been able to get working… :) to fix it?

Thanks.

Hi Todd.

Could you post the code you’re using? Thanks. :)

Address I’m using for the podcast feed:

http://www.mywebsite.com/?s2member_file_download=podcast-test.xml&s2member_file_remote=yes

(I am – of course – replacing “mywebsite” with my actual domain and “podcast-test” with the actual name of the xml file.)

– The files are in the s2member-files folder as instructed.
– iTunes asks for my username/password but doesn’t accept it, regardless of user/role/granted permissions.
– All downloads work as supposed to when in a browser.

Could you try these?

Yes – still did not work with the first one. When I used the second link it tells me that “There was a problem downloading” because “An internal server error occurred.”

Tell me if these help:

The GZIP code was already in my htaccess – I tried that method based on another forum thread I saw. I also tried it without.

Any other thoughts?

Could you post the code in your XML file? Thanks. :)

Thanks for the heads up on this thread.

I noticed the URLs being posted here do not contain the s2member_file_inline=yes directive.

I suggest the following URL which includes this directive for the file to be served inline:

http://www.mywebsite.com/?s2member_file_remote=yes&s2member_file_inline=yes&s2member_file_download=podcast-test.xml
