I basically plan to have 2 levels on my site: 0 = free = limited access/trial and 1 = paid = full access

Maybe this is a dumb question, but if someone creates a a free account, does he have to *delete* that free account and create a *new* paid account, or is his account simply granted more access after paying?

I plan to use the PayPal Pro form for level 0, and a regular PayPal button for level 1.

Does the user have to be logged out to purchase level 1? Would the registration say “e-mail or username already used”?

If there are more levels, let’s say level 1 for $5, and level 2 for $10, would someone starting at 1 who moves to 2 end up paying a total $15, even though level 2 includes access to level 1? That would be strange, because he could have gotten all that access for just $10 from the start.

Thanks!

— Steve

The person doesn’t need to register a new account, he just has to be logged in to the existing one when he loads the page that has the buttons to pay for the higher level, then his account will be referenced by s2Member to upgrade it after checkout.

You can use conditionals that check his current level to show different buttons based on that. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / Scripting -› Simple/Shortcode Conditionals[/hilite]

Or change the amount he has to pay for upgrade using variables in the shortcode. Knowledge Base » Using Variables In A Shortcode
