Listing Members on Front-End?

I need to be able to display members on Front-End by category…

As an example:

I have the following members…
– Category A: 5 members
– Category B: 3 members
– Category C: 2 members

A front-end user selects to view members of type: “Category C”…

…I need a way to show a list of members in that category.

I need the ability to display custom information from their profile in a listing of these members.

Each member will have a short bio that uses SOME of their profile information. By clicking on that member’s information/name/avatar – a front end user can then view the member’s entire profile.

So basically I need a loop that shows select data for members by category.

Can this be done with shortcodes? Do I need to use template tags?

How can I accomplish this?

s2Member doesn’t add a users directory yet. You’d need a plugin that provides this, or code your own.
