Login "after" reading categorized posts"

Can anyone offer some guidance on how I would allow a viewer to read a post first and when they go to exit, a level 0 registration page pops up? If they decline I want to then send them back to the home page.

…as opposed to the registration screen popping up “before” reading the post.

No, I don’t know how to do those popup windows on browser close, but you could google about doing it in WordPress, there may already be a plugin for it.
