Hi,

We’re looking for a PHP/MySQL programmer expert in WordPress and S2member and possibly forums for some contract work on a relaunch of the ibioseminars.org site, and integrating S2Member with Aweber and a forum (maybe BBPress). There are two phases. One, is for the next 6 months or so, we would need some hours of paid advice. When our webmaster gets stuck, we need to be able to call/Skype and ask questions, and get troubleshooting advice. Later, maybe 9 months down the road, we will have a larger project in which we need a programmer to set up the functionality for running an online class. The project is constantly growing, so there is deep likelihood that it would be a nice maintenance gig for the right person. If anyone is interested, please read the more detailed info below and reply here, or shoot me an email at yolanda.obannon[AT]ucsf.edu.

MORE INFO:

I am helping to build a large new site in WordPress, using Genesis and the Landscape child theme, for which we need some expert programmer advice and contract work.

What we are doing:

We are building a new site – http://www.ibiology.org – which combines our existing websites — http://www.ibioseminars.org and http://www.ibiomagazine.org — into one site, plus adding a large third section, ibioeducation. The existing sites are in Joomla, and the new one is being built in WordPress, using Genesis and the Landscape child theme.

For the new site, we want to have this functionality:

Have multiple courses that students and teachers register for (all for free). (We are looking at the S2Member plugin for the registration part of this, but are open to suggestions.)
Give teachers access to special content that the students will not see, like answers to the tests, special instruction pages, etc. (S2Member?)
Be able to track, for each course, the students and teachers. (Just a list of who is in each course.)
Be able to have Aweber email lists of the teachers and students for each course, separately. (This not critical however.) (S2Member + Aweber?)
Create a forum where the students and teachers can interact, possibly on BBPress, but again we are open for suggestions.

What we need in terms of programming:

Our webmaster could probably hack through all this stuff but works for us as a consultant and needs his time to do the basic building of the site. What he needs is someone to work with him for the more complex bits and someone he can ask for advice from time to time for things such as these:

Building the member forum for the courses, and to customize it as needed.
Setting up S2Member, or whatever plugin we use for giving teachers and students access to the site, and customize it so that it integrates with our soon-to-be-created Aweber account.
We would love to continue to work with a programmer on the ongoing needs of this site, and to have someone to ask advice, as needed. (Paying for the advice.) After launching the new site, in the spring of 2013, we may offer much more robust and interactive courses, for which we will no doubt need programming help.

What kind of person we are looking for:

An expert PHP/MySQL programmer who is deeply familiar with WordPress, and preferably also with Genesis.
Extremely professional in terms of communicating often and well.
Fair prices.
Someone who is very flexible in terms of time. We may need advice, which we can pay for, only at the beginning, and not any serious developing work for several months. This is because we are developing the structure and content for a large section of the site as we go. We are working now on parts of the site and aiming for a Spring 2013 launch for the full thing. Ideally, we could contact you on an as-needed basis, with a fair degree of flexibility on our side too, as long as the work could be completed by launch date.
Available to contact by email and Skype as needed.

What’s in it for you?

The iBiology.org team is truly great. There are 7 of us at the moment, all really good folks, and great to work with, if we say so ourselves :-)
It’s a beautiful, valuable project which offers exceptionally high caliber biology videos for free to the world.
We’re constantly growing and developing the site and if you join us for this and we all enjoy working together, this could be a very nice long-term contract gig.

If you are interested in learning more, please reply to this email and let me know your hourly rate and any initial feedback you might have.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!
