Membership issue. Vid. pages individual produ

Hello.

Thank you for this great plugin. I’ve read and watch a video about it and I seem to be in a dead end.

What i want to do:

Create a seminar website, thus each seminar page is treated as a product.

Each seminar page has two isntances:

Instance A. One that presents the seminar, has a short video as a preview of the seminar and the functionality to pay through paypal so you can see the full length.

Instance B. The second instance is if the member that views the page has paid for the respective seminar:
– The preview video is no longer displayed
– The pay with paypal button is no longer shown
– The actual video is displayed

At first i’m thinking of creating 2 pages for each seminar: Instance A and Instance B

Other information:
Visitors can either pay for 1 specific seminar, for all seminars in a specific category, or all the seminars on the site.

My issue: Will i need to make a membership level for each seminar page? Seems a bit of an overkill to make 100 membership levels for 100 pages/seminars… Plus membership levels for each category and the full membership for all seminars.

For this there are simple answers, if I understood correctly of course. ;)

First, I suggest you switch to using custom capabilities (ccaps for short), instead of levels, as levels are progressive (level 2 gets levels 0, 1 and 2), and ccaps are independent of each other.

And for the different instances of each you can use s2Member conditionals, which allow you to check if a user is registered, or has a certain ccap, or really any valid conditional that PHP would accept. :)

I suggest you use s2Member’s download restrictions in order to control access to your website and the videos, however since you are going to be using ccaps you will be interested in ccap specific downloads.

I have looked over the custom capabilities video.

I will use conditionals to either show the paid content or the preview content.

Just so I won’t open another topic for this: Is there a way to blend s2members with a shopping cart plugin? Let’s say “John” wants to purchase 30 day membership for math seminar category (adds to basket), 1 seminar from chemistry for lifetime and whatnot. Then he would go to his shopping cart and checkout with everything.

Could the checkout be integrated in one single button? Am I seeing the solution the wrong way? Any advice would be much appreciated.
