Hello,

Great news! We have received a pseudo mark from the U.S. Trademark office, making us the first “Supply Library”.
s2Members looks like the perfect way to sign up and manage our patrons and their permissions.

We want to verify shipping addresses by sending Supplybrary cards to each patron. On the back of those cards are 20 character “keys” that we want to match with each patron. For example, when a patron receives their Supplybrary card in the mail, they can sign in to Supplybrary and enter that key in their profile. Then, they will be able to borrow and buy supplies.

Can we, should we, what is the best way to; use s2Members to match these card keys to patrons?

Any opinions, clues, hints, suggestions, detailed tutorials will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Larry Turner

Hello Larry,

I’m afraid s2Member is not made for this kind of job without some really heavy modifications.

To start with, s2Member does not deal with non-digital content, so you would have to add the part about sending the patrons the cards, or you can send them manually.

And second, s2Member doesn’t currently have any kind of key code kind of verification. The only thing that counts like that is a user’s password. Another similar thing would be specific post/page access links, although those are limited in time and are shareable.

In all honesty, s2Member is not made for this. It’s possible it’s going to be easier to make a new plugin for this.

However, this is just opinion, never having made a plugin I can’t say for sure. :)
