I am looking at s2 for a civic organization, and they are looking to automate many of the membership management tasks. Below is a wish list. Can you tell me how many of these are inherently built into the s2 Pro plugin, or can be created with some additional work?

1. ability to send out email blast or invoice alerting members it is time to renew their annual membership with links to do so

2. ability to send out a reminder blast 2 months later to those who have not renewed.

3. ability to see the history of an individual’s membership history (i.e. member since 1998, lapsed in 2003)

4. ability to have flag which committees a member serves on (executive board, programs committee, etc.) and send blasts to only those committee members

5. ability to have multiple fields for contact information (i.e. husband’s name, phone, email; and wife’s name, phone, email)

6. ability to add fields to membership form sign up with check boxes for what committees do you want to serve on and similar questions

7. ability to upload current member information in csv format (saves re-typing)

Hello Cristian,
Thanks so much for the info and quick response.

Just a quick following regarding item #1 – some sort of a mechanism that generates a notice to the member that their membership is about to expire or up for renewal. That’s a biggie. Is this feature on s2’s radar, or in the pipeline?

It’s in the pipeline, and quite advanced.

In the meantime you can try using the List Server API to use a service like MailChimp or AWeber and add the user to a list there with emails set to go out on the dates when he should be paying again. These emails would not go dynamically depending on the payment status, though, they’d just go on the set dates, but it’s close to what you need. Video » s2Member (API List Servers)
