I just went live with my S2Member supported site last Friday. I have had four new subscribers in that time. The first three seem to go seamlessly, but the fourth did not kick off a “New User Registration” email to me and though they are now listed under Users in WP, there is no “Paid Subscr ID” shown as with the first three.

The only reason I know I had a new subscriber is that I got two emails from Paypal. One titled “You have a new automatic payment profile for XXX” and one titled “You received a payment”. I checked PayPal and the first month’s subscription amount has been credit to my account.

What does this mean? Why am I not receiving notification via email through S2MemberPro and why is the Paid Subscr ID not showing up? Does this mean that they won’t be billed again next month on the recurring payment?

I migrated from a MailChimp/Amazon email system to a WP/S2MemberPro/Paypal system so I wouldn’t have to track everything by hand which is a nightmare.

I am using Paypal Business Standard, not Pro. I am also using a S2MemberPro generated Paypal button and not the Proforms.

Please advise.

I may have figured this out. This user already had an account I set up for my legacy email customers and is still getting billed through Amazon. I supplied them with usernames and passwords. But this user appears to have used the Paypal button rather than just login with the supplied credentials. As such, she already had an account. Still, I received my money through Paypal and probably owe them a refund. Does the fact that she has no Paid Subscriber ID indicate that she won’t be dinged by Paypal next month? Or should I have her disconnect her recurring payment through her Paypal account?

Hi Kris.

What could have happened is that the user wasn’t logged in to her account when she started the checkout process, so s2Member didn’t relate the payment to the existing account. Instead, it’ll tie the payment to the new account expected to be registered, which is when the New User email happens too. It’s possible the she didn’t create a new account, though, and instead logged in to the existing one. This would explain why the subscr ID isn’t in her profile.

If she’s already paying you through Amazon and now also PayPal, you’ll need to stop one of them so only one keeps going. You should be able to stop her subscription from your side.

I hope that helps!
