One of my clients sites uses s2member. There is really only one page that’s restricted which has member vouchers on it.

I am using the Persuasion Theme by MySiteMyWay (great themes), and I’m using the Blog Shortcode to display entries for different states.

If you go to http://www.ihssociety.com.au and visit the “State Updates” page, or even the “National” page in the submenu, you’ll see the entries. However, the individual state pages do not display the entries unless you are logged in. I’ve disabled s2member and they show up straight away.

I’ve gone through all of my s2 settings, and can’t see any accidental restrictions, only the one page in the members-only area.

Where is the best place to look to find the problem? I’m using the standard blog settings on the National page, which shows all entries, but the state pages are published using the blog shortcode and it shows nothing unless logged in.

Not asking for someone to do it for me, just need a point in the right direction!

Thanks in advance.
Dave

Hi Dave.

If you go to your list of posts in the admin area, to the right there is a column for s2Member which, when the post is protected, shows a lock icon. If you hover the pointer over the icon, it’ll say what protection it has.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply Cristian (especially given that this is a free forum)

None of my posts are protected. If i go to the standard “Archives” for the post category ( or sub category), it shows everything. After more digging, it now looks to be related directly to a conflict between s2member and the blog shortcode from the MySiteMyWay theme.

Is there anything you know of that could cause this?

They have awesome support at MSMW, so i’ll head over there and see if anyone can figure it out.

Will post here if i get a fix.

Ah, thanks for the update. Wasn’t aware of a conflict with that theme.

To confirm it, did you test changing the theme to the default one and testing if the restriction problem still happens?

No, i haven’t switched the theme, as the site is currently live, but the issue is with the shortcode, not the page or post.

If you head over to one of the pages here

You’ll see a downloads box which is on the page using a shortcode from another plugin.

This is what i see when logged in:

If you head to the main blog page here you’ll see all of the posts. This page is the default blog page and is not created with a shortcode.

Oh, I think I understand now.

This may help them integrate with s2Member: http://www.s2member.com/codex/stable/s2member/api_functions/package-summary/

Hi Cristian,

Does this mean anything to you?

“Our blog shortcodes creates it’s own query ,

$blog_query = new WP_Query();

Perhaps the s2member plugin needs to use the loop template to work properly.

Sort of, it’d mean more to Jason, though. I can point you to a couple things that are related:

http://www.s2member.com/codex/stable/s2member/api_functions/package-functions/#src_doc_attach_s2member_query_filters%28%29
[hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / Scripting -› Advanced Query Conditionals[/hilite]
Video » s2Member (Advanced Conditionals)

Also, check if the Alt. Views restriction works with your theme’s shortcode, if they’re using WordPress’ template. [hilite path]Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› Alternative View Protection[/hilite]

I hope it helps.

*sigh* I can’t believe i didn’t check the alternative view settings.

I have now unchecked ” Filter ALL WordPress® queries; protecting all Alternative Views.”, and manually checked all items below it, and it is now working perfectly… It wasn’t protected in the first place, but those filters weren’t playing nicely. I’m still not 100% sure how it was interfering, but I’m happy that it works now.

Thanks for the tip, Cristian, i’ll definitely be upgrading to Pro soon, this plugin is essential!

Thanks for the kudos! I’m very glad that worked for you. :)
