When I create a re-occuring button for paypal sandbox, i get an error page saying something is wrong. but when using a buy now code, it uploads fine.

If I use buy now buttons, the auto subscriptions won’t work, right?
I’m about to pull out my hair.

Tina

Hello Tina,

What error is it giving you? Could you take a screenshot of it? It is impossible for us to give any advice without knowing what error it gave you.

If I use buy now buttons, the auto subscriptions won’t work, right?

That is correct, buy now buttons will only be a one-time payment and the user will be given access for whatever he paid.

It’s the 3005 error that seems to be popular with paypal. Screenshot didn’t paste so wording is pasted instead. Any help is great. Thank you Eduan.

If you were making a purchase or sending money, we recommend that you check both your PayPal account and your email for a transaction confirmation after 30 minutes.

If you came to this page from another website, please return to that site (don’t use your browser’s Back button) and restart your activity.

If you came from PayPal’s website, click the PayPal logo in the upper-left corner to return to our home page and restart your activity. You might have to log in again.
We are sorry, we are experiencing temporary difficulties. Please try again later. If this error occurred while making a payment, avoid duplicate payments by checking your Account Overview before resending a payment.

For some browsers, this problem can be resolved by clearing or deleting cookies.

I’m not very experienced with this error, haven’t dealed with PayPal a lot (thank god).

Some things you can try are the following:

Follow the common troubleshooting tips: Knowledge Base » Common Troubleshooting Tips

Once you try all those steps, tell me the results, see if any of that was the cause. If not, make sure that your PayPal details are 100% correct (double and triple check it).

I would really LOVE to have the answer to this question. I am having the same problem and error. What’s really weird, however, is that when I generate the code for the button, S@ Member display the button on its own page. When I click THAT, it goes to Paypal just fine. But when I click it from the website after pasting the code, I get this same error.

Please help!

Tony,

I discovered that when I went live with the subscription buttons, they worked correctly. It was just the sandbox mode that didn’t like them.

As to why you get a new page, I have no clue.

Sorry to be of no help.

Excellent Tina! Glad you solved the problem!

Yes it isn’t recommended to test with the sandbox features, they usually introduce problems that don’t exist in a live setup. To test we recommend to test with $0.01 cent transactions and do a couple of tests with the actual price at which the users would pay.
