Hey guys. my site is still under construction and I decided to make it a membership site so I installed the free version of s2. I converted the site to become a blog farm so I saw that I needed to purchase the larger Pro package.

I have a few questions but for this post I’ll just ask one.

I wanted users to come in at the level they need but I wanted to restrict or give access to certain plugins installed on the site depending on their membership level.

I was reading through some of the posts that Jason did and he mentioned how s2 uses role management. I think this is where the customization comes in.

Is there a way to give let’s say level 4 members access to all plugins and level 2 to specific ones or none? I hope you understood my question.

It would really be a big deal if this could be done and I will go ahead and make the upgrade right away. Thanks!

Herc

Hello Hercules,

I’m afraid that’s not possible with s2Member without some customizations.

Basically, if you want to restrict access to certain plugins etc., you would need to modify those plugins directly so that they depend on s2Member, so that they check themselves and only do stuff if the user has the correct s2Member access.

Does that answer your question?

Hi Hercules.

Like Eduán said, this is not something s2Member does.

You’ll need other plugins to manage plugins in your multisite network. If some of them let you specify what to allow based on user role, then you can try configuring it using the s2Member level roles.

I hope that helps. :)

I’m glad I could help you, even if only a little. :)
