I am trying to find a membership plugin for WordPress that is a very simple request.

I will have a free site but in order to post a review or comment on a review, one must “join” as a subscriber. That is the only restriction I want and access to all content is available for any user of the site.

At some future date I may require membership, but highly unlikely, as I expect to be ad supported.

Is s2member the right solution?

Hi there,

This is very possible with s2Member. You’ll want to set this up in Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› Post Access Restrictions and Dashboard -› s2Member® -› Restriction Options -› Page Access Restrictions.
