This is very weird, and I’m tearing my hair out! While my problem is directly related to the s2-hacks.php file, it has nothing to do with the code in that file! Let me explain…

I wanted to get an email every time a member updated their profile. I found some excellent advice on this forum, created the mu-plugins directory, and created an s2-hacks.php file.

The hack worked flawlessly. Everytime a profile was changed, I got an email listing all my custom fields. Perfect!

Then I went to add a description to a page, and I couldn’t update the page. The screen would go blank, and the update didn’t “take.”

I removed the s2-hacks.php file, and everything worked fine again.

I proceeded to troubleshoot the s2-hacks.php file by simplifying and removing lines of code one at a time to see if it was some error in the code (even though the code appeared to function just fine).

Incredibly, I got it down to an “empty” file:

Yes, this is just the opening and closing php tags with nothing between them other than a newline! There is no whitespace anywhere. This still gives me the page updating problem, and the problem goes away as soon as I remove this s2-hacks.php file!

I deactivated every plugin except s2Member. It still exhibited this behaviour, but now I got an error message: “Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /SITE_INFO_REMOVED/wp-content/mu-plugins/s2-hacks.php:1) in /SITE_INFO_REMOVED/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 876

Does anyone out there know what’s going on here?

I’m using s2Member Framework (free) Version 130406 with WordPress 3.5.1 and the Headway Theme Version 3.4.11. As far as I know, these are all the newest versions.

Thanks,
Garry

OK… it’s been a while, and I’ve had no response. Unfortunately, as far as I can see, this forum is the only way to get technical support for this plugin.

Some sort of response would be appreciated, since I do have a problem ans I do need a solution:

Is my problem poorly described?

Am I doing something obviously wrong (although not to me)?

Is this a known problem, but has no fix or workaround?

Is there another technical support option?

Fortunately, I haven’t upgraded to the Pro version, because I would hate to have paid for a plugin with no technical support!

Please respond,
Garry
