Problem with User Profile

I cannot change the custom capabilities in user profile. Is there a setting somewhere that I’ve missed to allow making changes to s2member settings in the profile? I can type the change into the field, but when submitted no changes are made in the database.

When a user registers and pays – the appropriate custom capability is assigned. But not for a manually entered user and not for any changes to an existing user (after registration and payment).

Additionally: Making any change to the user profile instantly deletes any custom capability and it has to be re-entered manually in mySQL admin.

Any ideas on why this is happening would be most appreciated. I can go into the database and manually grant custom capabilities – but this is not something my client can do!

I assume you are using the administrative user profile edit form. How are you inputting the CC’s? Separated by comas?

Hi and thank you SOOOOO MUCH for getting back to me – am going crazy.

Yes, I am using the admin user profile edit form. I am simply entering in one custom capability – no commas required for one, right?

I enter it – and it simply inserts this into the database field: a:1:{s:15:”s2member_level2″;s:1:”1″;}

Instead of this: a:2:{s:15:”s2member_level2″;s:1:”1″;s:30:”access_s2member_ccap_inspector”;s:1:”1″;}

If the user has paid; thus inspector is already in the field for custom capabilities (and in the database with a:2:{s:15:”s2member_level2″;s:1:”1″;s:30:”access_s2member_ccap_inspector”;s:1:”1″;}) – and say I want to change it to consignor – it just wipes out what is in the database and inserts: a:1:{s:15:”s2member_level2″;s:1:”1″;}

Literally – the only way to get a custom capability input for a user is: 1) they go thru paypal; or 2) I manually input the code into the database.

This is just not going to cut it for my client – they need to be able to give a user this capability should the user not be required to pay (for whatever reason) or make a change to a capability if necessary.

do you have any other functions hooking into the profile form besides the normal s2member functions?

Have you tried re-installing the s2member files?

Hi Dave – this is a multisite WP, and I have a role manager (if that hooks into the profile)

I have not tried to reinstall the s2member files – is it safe to do that given everything is all set up?

Okay – based on your question, I disabled the role manager and Ta-Da! s2Member now registering changes to the dang custom capabilities! I don’t really need the role manager so problem solved thanks to your giving me a new angle! Thanks, Dave!
