registration user memeber level 1

Dear community

I would like to know how I can register a memeber in level 1 without PayPal button
I have a custom button that return the transaction complete of my gateway and I would like to take this value
If is OK made hook to update the memeber label of my user

Please let me know if it possible and how I can do it
