restrict member at level1 to only profiles

I want to restrict recently joined members on buddypress to their profiles this is similar to http://www.s2member.com/forums/topic/uri-restriction-for-buddypress-profile/ but I’m confused. Please can someone very very kindly send me exactly what to cut and paste into my s2hacks.php ? thanks so much
