I’m considering using S2Member for my current project as it seems to be the only plugin capable to providing the type of membership model required for my project.
The website I’m building will have content (videos) created specifically for an individual student. Students will only have access to his/her own private video(s).
The student will be manually added to the system, (no registration page on front end) and a private page will be created along with a hyperlink on the page to play the video (hosted on Amazon S3).

I have watched your video about roles and capabilities and I get the feeling this could be on the right track but I would like confirmation the features of roles and capabilities will make it possible. I’m thinking I could create a page using the students name or student ID as the page slug – is this a good way?
or maybe I could make use of the standard WordPress profile page and embed the video directly into it?

Otherwise, if you have any suggestions how I might be able to setup a system for “individual private content access”, I would certainly welcome them and you will have another happy customer

I have searched high and low for a good secure plugin and had given hope of finding anything until I started looking at S2Member, hopefully my search is over

thank you in anticipation

Lee

Hi Lee.

When you create the user manually and his page, you can give him a custom capability with his username, and protect his page with that custom capability. The video file for him can also be protected with his custom capability. The customization is required if you want to automate the process, but if you’re doing it manually, s2Member can handle it as it is.

I hope that helps! :)

I am also considering using s2M for something similar where I want to have individual members pages that are only accessible by that member, but I would like this to be done automatically when the user signs up. Is this at all possible?

Also I know that s2m is multisite compatible, but I have not found any documentation of installation & config for multisite, could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Sam

This video may help: Video » s2Member (Client Portals?)

Yeah, install s2Member in a multisite WordPress and you’ll get some settings in s2Member that lets you use it in child blogs, as well determine how many blogs a user can have in the network depending on his s2Member Level.
