I have looked through the forum posts but cannot seem to find an answer that works for me.

I have my wordpress site set up in the main directory http://www.mysite.com I have also installed a community (social engine) in the directory http://www.mysite.com/community/

I am not sure how to protect access to this directory. Essentially I do not want my members to be able to use the community unless they are level 1 members or above. I tried to use the URI restrictions in s2member settings but had no luck. In the level 1 area I entered /community/ but it was still visible. I tried other variations with and without slashes.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Currently there’s no way to restrict access to anything on your site that your installation of WordPress with s2Member installed on is not loading with. The only way to accomplish protecting an entire site under your domain would be to connect your main site with this site via Multisite Network. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the reply! You said…

How would I go about doing this? Is this an ideal way of accomplishing this? Or is there anyway to install social engine through wordpress that would allow me to restrict it? I want the least painful way of restricting access to the community. There has to be a way, I’m just not sure how.

s2Member can only restrict content served by WordPress, but your community is not.

You could customize your community’s script to check if the user is logged in to WP, perhaps. This may help: Knowledge Base » Remote User Status (Custom API)
