Can S2 Member be used to hide portions of page content, in addition to whole pages, posts, categories etc? So for instance, only level #4 members could see a certain paragraph at the top/bottom of a page?

Yes, this is possible with s2Member conditionals.

You can find them under Dashboard -› s2Member® -› API / Scripting -› Simple/Shortcode Conditionals.
